Terms of use
These terms set the practical boundaries for using Wildfire Watch. They do not reduce your statutory rights.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Wildfire Watch is operated by Greener Systems Ltd. Registered in England and Wales, company number 17058284. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Greener Systems Ltd. These terms govern the public website, accounts, saved locations, monitoring, alerts and any paid Wildfire Watch service. By creating an account or buying a paid service you agree to the terms published here at that time. Our privacy and cookies notice explains how personal data is handled.
2. Safety, non-reliance and your responsibility
Wildfire Watch is an independent supplementary awareness service. It is not an emergency service, fire and rescue service, public warning system, monitored alarm, professional safety adviser or safety authority. It does not undertake to watch every fire, source or location continuously; investigate an emergency; contact emergency services; warn any particular person; recommend evacuation; predict a fire's behaviour; or confirm that any person, property or place is safe.
You use the information and features at your own risk and remain fully responsible for your own safety, decisions and actions. You must make your own assessment, maintain suitable emergency plans and alarms, check authoritative and local information, keep contact and device settings working, and decide whether to travel, remain, leave, protect property or seek help. Do not make Wildfire Watch your only source of fire or safety information.
Do not delay or avoid action because a page, status, map, message or alert is absent, late or reassuring. If you see smoke or flames, receive an official warning or believe there is immediate danger, move to safety, call 999 and follow emergency-service and public-authority advice.
3. Information and alert limitations
Wildfire Watch finds, organises and presents information obtained from third parties, including fire and rescue services, satellite heat-detection providers, weather-data providers and mapping services. Wildfire Watch does not create or control that information and cannot independently guarantee its accuracy, correctness, completeness, authenticity, location, classification, availability or timeliness. Publication through Wildfire Watch does not mean that we have independently verified or adopted third-party information as correct.
Third-party information varies by source and area. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, duplicated, approximate, unavailable, incorrectly located, mistranslated, misclassified, subsequently amended or withdrawn. A source may not report every incident and may change an incident's description, status or location after Wildfire Watch has collected it. Satellite heat can have causes other than wildfire and can miss real fires because of cloud, smoke, timing or technical limits. Weather and wind assessments are estimates, not forecasts of ignition, spread or danger.
Clear, Watch and Warning are Wildfire Watch information labels, not official warnings or statements of safety. Proximity does not prove danger, and a Clear result or absence of an alert does not prove that no fire exists. Monitoring and warning radii are search settings, not safety or evacuation boundaries.
Email, browser and future push alerts are convenience features. They are not guaranteed and may be delayed, duplicated, filtered, sent to an outdated address, or not delivered because of source, processing, network, device, account, email-provider or service failures. Repeated-alert intervals are minimum scheduling intervals, not promises of delivery at an exact time or of a fresh source check. You remain responsible for checking the service and authoritative information yourself.
4. Accounts and security
You must provide accurate information, use your own account, keep credentials secure and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the law says otherwise. We may require email verification, renewed acceptance of terms or reasonable security checks. Accounts may be suspended or closed where necessary to protect users, the service, legal compliance or security.
5. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the service, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with operation or security, scrape or overload it unreasonably, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person, use information unlawfully, or present Wildfire Watch output as an official emergency warning. Reasonable ordinary personal and organisational use is permitted. Automated or commercial reuse requires prior written permission unless applicable law expressly allows it.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to provide a useful and reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature, source or location will always be supported. We may maintain, correct, secure, restrict, replace or withdraw features. Where practical, material account or paid-service changes will be explained in advance.
7. Paid services
Before payment, checkout will identify the service, price, billing period, renewal arrangements, trial terms, cancellation method and the terms being accepted. Those checkout details form part of the contract. No charge will be made merely because a planned paid feature appears on the membership page. Consumer cancellation, refund and other statutory rights are not reduced by these terms.
8. Intellectual property and third parties
Wildfire Watch branding, software and original presentation belong to the operator or its licensors. Source information, maps and linked material remain subject to their respective owners' terms. Third-party links are provided for context; we do not control their availability or content. You may link to public pages, but must not imply endorsement or official status.
9. Responsibility and liability
This section allocates responsibility within the limits permitted by UK law. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Greener Systems Ltd, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of a consumer right that the law does not allow us to restrict, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Greener Systems Ltd is responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage where we have not breached these terms and have not been negligent, or where the loss was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made.
Subject to those protections, Greener Systems Ltd is not responsible for loss arising from the inaccuracy, incorrectness, incompleteness, lack of authenticity, delay, duplication, mislocation, misclassification, unavailability, amendment or withdrawal of third-party information where we have selected and presented that information with reasonable care and have not been negligent. We do not assume responsibility for independently checking every third-party report or for detecting and correcting a source error before you see or receive it.
In particular, Greener Systems Ltd is not responsible for loss caused by: relying on Wildfire Watch as an emergency warning, monitored alarm, professional opinion or guarantee of safety; failing to check official or local information; acting or failing to act contrary to the prominent safety warnings in these terms and on the service; failure of an email, network, device, browser, app store, mapping, hosting or other third-party service outside our reasonable control; or events that we could not reasonably have prevented.
You are responsible for decisions about personal safety, evacuation, travel, land, animals, buildings, possessions and business continuity. Wildfire Watch does not accept a duty to monitor or warn you beyond the features expressly described, and neither account registration nor payment creates such a duty.
The consumer service is supplied for private use. If you use it for a trade, business, craft or profession, Greener Systems Ltd is not responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill, data, or indirect or consequential loss. If a paid consumer service is not provided with reasonable care and skill, the remedies required by consumer law remain available.
10. Changes to these terms
The latest terms published on this page apply. We retain the publication and acceptance record needed to show which terms applied when an account was created or a purchase was made. Older published copies will remain retrievable through the terms archive. For a material change affecting an existing paid service, we will provide reasonable notice and request fresh agreement where required by law.
11. Ending use
You may stop using Wildfire Watch and, subject to any paid-service cancellation process, delete your account. We may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breach, legal or security risk, or service withdrawal. Provisions intended to survive closure, including intellectual-property and liability provisions, continue to apply.
12. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Consumers keep any mandatory protections that apply where they live and may use the courts available to them under applicable law. Wildfire Watch is operated by Greener Systems Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 17058284. Contact us through the Wildfire Watch contact page with questions about these terms.
